UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. UGH. Why does Mycroft Holmes exist? I could have gotten behind the character, but I find him and Watson sleeping together just weird. Because he is Sherlock's brother. It's just weird for me.

Also, I was loving Thursday's episode to a point. That scene on the sidewalk, where Joan confronts Mycroft and is all, "You're a liar, and I can't deal with that." THAT WAS AMAZING. The scene with Sherlock in the kitchen was also all kinds of awesome. "Please put that down before you kill us both. It's a toxic mold. Part of an experiment." I also really enjoyed Sherlock meeting with MI5 (might have been MI-6, I'm not up on my British Inteligence agencies). Delightful. And Sherlock showing concern and compassion for Watson is always great to see.

And then Mycroft was redemed. And it turns out that the only reason he's in the CIA is to save Sherlock. And that's a thing he and Joan have in common. And I just feel like that's one twist too many. I didn't want it. AT ALL.

Mostly, because I don't want Joan to be in the middle of the Holmes boys. Even if *she* is totally the one choosing to be there (and she is, because NO ONE tells the Joan Watson and her fabulousness what to do). I adore Watson and Mycroft as friends. That was charming. Lovers is just weird to me. I think part of it's a chemistry thing. Part of it is the Sherlock/Mycroft/Joan dynamic it creates.

And I say this as a non Sherlock/Watson shipper.

I want Joan to move out of the brownstone. I want her to have a life beyond her work. (That scene where she explains to Sherlock that she won't be happy living her job is SO GOOD.) I want her to continue to have agency and make her own choices regardless of what Sherlock thinks. I want her to disagree with him.

I just don't want her to sleep with his brother.

On the other hand, I did love how Sherlock's first instinct is to protect his brother, regardless of what Mycroft has done (or more accurately, I suppose, what Sherlock thinks he's done.

Still, be better show.

Well, first of all, a large chunk of this episode was boring. It really felt like mostly a filler episode.

The best part for me was Lisbon and Jane playing doctor. That scene might feature my favourite RT face ever. That was amazing.

The second best part, and it's a close second, was Cho telling her it's been an honour to work with her. And he almost quit on day one because of Rigsby, but stayed because of her. GUH.

Otherwise, blergh.

I KNEW she was going to decide to go to D.C. when I read the episode summary. And I didn't want her to. Because she's almost certainly not going (if she does, I'm not watching S7, FYI. And there is a miraculous S7 now). But now that Lisbon has decided to go, there's going to have to be some 11th hour changing her mind. And that's going to be weird professionally (now that Abbot is apparently ON BOARD with her leaving, which is a bit weird in and of itself after last week). So I don't like it. I would have preferred watching her struggle with the decision, Jane realizing that she's actually leaning towards going, and finally saying something. Or Lisbon deciding it was just too soon in the relationship to completely upset her life, and deciding against it. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN REASONABLE.

I am also irritated by her magical new job. I think the decision was balanced as it was, and that just makes things weird.

And are we supposed to believe that Jane doesn't know she's decided? After that last scene? Um. OKAY. I'll put it down to denial, but really?

And lastly, I mostly really liked Pike up until this point. He popped the "move across the country with me" super fast, but OKAY, I get it, he's super into her and wants to be with her. I could get around that.

BUT AFTER TAKING WEEKS TO DECIDE TO MOVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH HIM, INSTEAD OF GIVING HER SPACE TO GET USED TO THE MASSIVE DECISION, MORON PROPOSES? DUDE. YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS SKITISH IN RELATIONSHIPS. SHE TOLD YOU THIS. READ THE SITUATION PROPERLY.

Honestly, that ludicrous proposal is reason enough for Lisbon to change her mind. Just saying.

Do better show.

And if this finale ends with Lisbon going to DC, I don't even know what I'm going to do next week. THAT IS ALL.

Just be thankful you don't watch Once Upon A Time....although, 2 Captain Hooks was *so* worth the wait ;)

Yeah, kinda glad I stopped watching Once Upon a Time sometime mid season one. I don't think it would work for me.

I just, I'd been enjoing both shows a lot until this week. And then they were both disappointing.

Still, I suppose it could have been worse. :) At least it's just TV.

Interesting comments.
Even I was not overly thrilled with Watson sleeping with Mycroft, not because I am a shipper whatsoever but simply cos I don't see any Chemistry. Having said that, that didn't get in the way of spoiling the episode too much for me because the dialogue and other things were just brilliant and at the end of the day, Joan is single so she can date who she wants. Of course, my first preference would be someone who is not her working partner's relative. I guess though when it happened for the 1st time in London, she never dreamt that it would be more than a 1 night stand.

Oh, I think part of it is a chemistry thing. If Joan and Mycroft had fabulous chemistry, I probably could have been convinced (I don't care about the one night stand for example). They do not. I agree that other parts of the episode were amazing. I was just generally annoyed.

I totally agree. Pike's officially an idiot.
(Something I'm actually grateful for, because it means Lisbon is probably going to reconsider her decision.)

And I'm starting to wonder how long they've been together, because that proposal sounds just plain ridiculous to me.

True. I should probably look at it as, "Hey, at least now Pike has a flaw. And he no longer essentially Bill Pullman from Sleepless in Seattle."

Honestly, unless we're supposed to believe there were months and months between the early episodes of the reboot, they've been together a few months. Because there can't have been that long between the last three episodes or so. Not with all those women in a shipping container. I think three months is generous.

Which makes a proposal somewhat absurd. At least in my opinion.

I want to draw hearts all over this post.

Well, the Mentalist part in any case, as I don't watch Elementary. But honestly, I agree with practically everything you said. I didn't find the ep boring per se, although I wasn't as riveted as during the two previous ones either.

BUT THE PROPOSAL. WHAT THE. I liked Pike fine. He was maybe too perfect, yes, but I loved that they made him a genuine good guy. And now this? WHAT IS THIS? Seriously dude, I know you've only been in a relationship with Lisbon for like 2 months (if that), but do you know your girlfriend at all?

BLAAAAAAAH.

Elementary is generally a really good show. I just haven't liked the last few episodes as much. But then, there has been a kidnapping plotline, SO....

The proposal was absurd. I have decided. Three months is the absolute maximum they've been dating, and only if you assume there are massive time gaps between some of the early episodes of the reboot. But it almost doesn't matter how long they've been dating. Because they haven't been dating long enough for him to realize how little she's going to like this. Which means he's subtly pressuring her, AGAIN. Which means DIE IN A FIRE PIKE.

(My reaction *may* be disproportionate to his crime. But I have decided not to be reasonable. This episode really irritated me.)

Hahaha, your reaction is definitely disproportionate, but I DON'T CARE. I am enjoying it anyway.

WHO PROPOSES AFTER THREE MONTHS? WHAT. Unless they've been best friends since childhood and the romance has been coming for a lifetime, I DO NOT ACCEPT HASTY PROPOSALS. I wonder if he was trying to drive his advantage home after she'd finally agreed to go with him. I don't know. What can possibly explain his reasoning here? He has to be aware that she's not in this 100%. So...what? His insecurity leads him to propose marriage? WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE?

That was nothing but weird. What's next? While you think about that proposal, want to try to get pregnant? But hey, no pressure.

That is the thing. I mean, I suppose it could be four months, but EITHER WAY. Too soon. Way too soon! I hate hasty proposals. How is he so sure that he's all in? Perhaps his previous divorce did a number on him, or something. And now that he is in a happy relationship that looks like it could go somewhere, he just decides to go all in?

I would literally not be surprised if that was the next step in stupid!Pike's mind. Because really now.

Stupid Pike.

Stupid show.
